MarinaDNS
Free DNS and network diagnostic tools for sysadmins, developers, and anyone who manages domains. No registration. No data retention. No noise.
The name
DNS was invented by Paul Mockapetris while working at the Information Sciences Institute in Marina del Rey, California. His RFCs — 882 and 883, later superseded by 1034 and 1035 — replaced a manually maintained HOSTS.TXT file with a distributed, hierarchical system that still runs the entire internet today. MarinaDNS is named in recognition of that work and that place.
What it is
MarinaDNS is a suite of 40 DNS and network diagnostic tools, spanning six categories — DNS, Network, Security, Generators, Testers, and Converters — built on a self-hosted recursive DNS resolver (Unbound). Queries are resolved directly — not forwarded through a third party — so results reflect what the wider internet actually sees for your domain.
The platform is multilingual by design, with interfaces in English, Russian, and Turkish.
How it works
All DNS lookups are resolved by a rate-limited Unbound instance running on our server. No queries are logged or stored. Results are returned in real time and discarded after your session ends.
The site runs on Nginx + PHP 8.3 on a dedicated VPS, behind Cloudflare for DDoS protection and TLS termination.
The person behind it
I'm Ramil Mastiyev, a sysadmin and the sole developer behind MarinaDNS and NODA. I built this platform after years running production DNS and hosting infrastructure — MarinaDNS started as a set of tools I needed myself, and NODA grew out of wanting a formal, versioned way to score DNS health instead of relying on gut feel.
Translations
MarinaDNS currently supports English, Russian, and Turkish. If you would like to contribute a translation into another language, get in touch — the language file is a straightforward PHP array.
